Duncans Cub is a 1098cc which only
took him 13 years to complete!
He writes...In 1990 Dutton were selling brand new right hand drive
Portugese built Mokes. I had an increasingly rusty Clubman estate
and heard about Charles Anderson. I had always wanted a Moke and
so should have shelled out the £4500 that Dutton wanted. Instead
I chose the easy route of building my own! I collected my kit from
Charles in May 1990 and, in the blink of an eye, it hit the road
in June 2003.
The intervening years saw my enthusiasm wax and wane and the kit
move through three build locations. It has however been well worth
the wait and I greatly enjoy driving it, although I have no hood
so it offers slightly less weather protection than a motorbike and
consequently is mostly a sunny afternoon transport.
By coincidence there is a near identical car just a couple of miles
from me in Bristol. It is sprayed the same Ford signal yellow as
mine but looks quite tired. I once spoke to the owner, who also
has a Scamp, a couple of Minor Travellers and a 30s roadster style
kit in production. He doesn’t use it on the road as far as
I can tell but told me he bought it from someone in Wales. |
